Ingredients:
1 lb. Mueller's Cut Macaroni
1 large cucumber, peeled and cut in small chunks
2 cups diced fresh tomato
5-6 chopped green onion scallions
8 pieces bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix
1.5 cups traditional cut shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain in colander and cold water. Place drained pasta in large bowl. Combine mayonnaise and dry ranch mix and gently stir into pasta coating well. Add cucumber, tomatoes and scallions and gently blend. Add bacon and cheese and blend all well. Refrigerate until chilled.

Cheesy Chicken Casserole


Cheesy Chicken Casserole

Ingredients:
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 cup milk
3 1/2 cups chopped cooked chicken
2 1/2 cups cooked macaroni
salt
pepper
1/4 cup Ritz cracker crumbs

Directions:
In a large skillet over med-high heat, saute onions in butter until onions are tender.
Add in soup and 1 ½ cups cheese; gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat until cheese melts; stir in chicken and macaroni; taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Transfer mixture to a greased 2 ½ quart casserole; sprinkle with cracker crumbs.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 30 minutes or until heated through.
Top with remaining ½ cup cheese and bake 5 minutes.

5 Signs Your Workout Is Bad For You


Feel the burn. No pain, no gain. Hurts so good. With fitness motivations like these, it's no wonder that many people think that gritting their teeth through workouts is to be expected.
"It's true that feeling a little sore after exercise is a good thing," says Jessica Matthews, an assistant professor of exercise science at Miramar College in San Diego and senior advisor of health and fitness education at the American Council on Exercise. "It means your muscles are getting stronger."
But Matthews warns that certain types of pain can signal a problem, such as an overuse injury. The key is telling the difference. To determine if your workout is doing your body more harm than good, pay attention to the following red flags.
1. Your muscles shake like crazy. 
"Some quaking isn't cause for concern," says Matthews. But if your arms start vibrating at a 7.0 on the Richter scale or start to give out, that's a sign of muscle failure. Not only do you run the risk of dropping a weight on your foot or falling, but you're setting the stage for damage. "When you're too fatigued, you won't be able to maintain proper form during an exercise," says Matthews. "That can lead to a muscle strain or tear."

2. You experience a sudden, sharp, or radiating pain. 
You can expect a general, growing ache in your muscles—that's a sign your workout is challenging. But an intense pain that appears quickly indicates that something's wrong. "Don't try to push through the movement," says Moira McCarthy, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. "That can lead to a muscle or joint injury."
3. After that jog, your foot or knee looks a little swollen.

Redness, swelling, or persistent pain suggests an overuse issue, such as runner's knee or a shin splint. (Prevent shin splints with these 4 simple tips.) "Take it easy for a few days," says McCarthy. You may need to spend more time warming up and stretching before pounding the pavement. But if it continues to hurt with each run, you may need to see a physical therapist. She can help you correct your form and strengthen any areas that may leave you susceptible to injuries.
4. That workout was 3 days ago—and you're still sore. 
You went hard in the weight room, and it still hurts to climb the stairs. Some stiffness is expected: Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is caused by tiny tears in the tissue, and when your body repairs those tears, it rebuilds your muscles stronger. But DOMS should resolve within 24 to 48 hours. If it doesn't, says Matthews, "it means that you pushed yourself too far, too soon." Wait until your muscles heal and the pain disappears before heading to the gym again. "If you try to exercise with a limited range of motion, you may wind up favoring one side or compromising the movement," says Matthews. "Over time, that can lead to an acute injury."
5. Your shoulder, knee, or hip gripes during a lift or press.

Having pain with one certain type of movement is a sign that something's wrong, says McCarthy. If the pain is sharp, have an orthopedic specialist check it out. If the pain isn't too bad, she recommends you take time to better prepare for your workouts. "Make sure that you're warming up and stretching properly, and hydrating during exercise," she says. You may need to bring exercise back to the basics. "Don't try to keep up with others," says McCarthy. Try lighter weights, slow your movements, and pay close attention to your form.

5 Cellulite Myths You Should Get Out of Your Head

It's unfortunate, sure. But the fact remains that 90 percent of women have cellulite in some form. And while there's not a ton you can do about it (more on that later), you might as well know the ins and outs of what it is, why it happens and whether or not you can get rid of it.


Myth: Only overweight people get cellulite. Nope. Cellulite (the fat beneath the skin that appears bumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the area above it to dimple) is an equal-opportunity bummer. While being overweight might make it appear more noticeable, cellulite is influenced by aging, genetics, weight fluctuation and even sun damage. And it can happen to women of all shapes and sizes.
Myth: Losing weight will make cellulite disappear. Since weight fluctuation is a key factor in the presence of cellulite, losing weight could actually exacerbate its appearance, depending on how you lose it. Crash-dieting obviously isn't healthy, but it could also make cellulite more obvious since losing a lot of weight quickly causes the skin to lose some of its elasticity, therefore calling attention to already-existing puckers in the skin.
Myth: Cardio is the answer to cellulite. First of all: Yes, exercise can strengthen the tissue beneath dimpled skin. But that can't exactly happen on a treadmill. You should really be hitting the free weights and kettle bells to smooth out skin at the muscular level. (Then any additional cardio can help you manage those weight fluctuations.)
Myth: Skin-firming creams get rid of cellulite. Sorry, folks. Despite what their labels might lead you to believe, no creams (over the counter or prescribed) have been proven to permanently reduce cellulite. Certain products, especially those containing retinol, might work to temporarily reduce the appearance of little dimples, but long-term, there's no cream (yet) that will take care of the issue.
Myth: Liposuction could make it less noticeable. Not only is it expensive and painful, liposuction could actually make cellulite worse, since you're messing with fat distribution, which could create dips and divots where they didn't previously exist. Stick to your gym routine instead--and maybe just accept that dimples happen to, literally, everyone.
